This project aims to produce a browsable and searchable database of the information collected for the quality and outcomes framework of the new GMS contract.

The contract commenced on the first of April 2004 and the first submission of results took place on the first of April 2005.

Much of this information is at least as interesting for what it says about populations of patients than what is says about individual practices. For instance the prevalence of diabetes in every PCT in the country can now be calculated accurately.

It will also allow study of the effects of the type of practice. Are small practices as effective as larger ones at reducing cholesterol. Are they better at reviewing medication?

This website should allow you to answer these questions and many others.

A request was sent to over 200 PCTs for information under the Freedom of Information Acts. In some cases the request was diverted to the NHS information service which will produce its results in June. Others gave data immediately so you can view a taster just now.
